Ryan is a Principal with Sabine & Waters, Inc. where he serves as the Director of Operations. His responsibilities include managing the daily activities of company operations, including the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans, directing efficiencies and productivity, developing financial and operational budgetary plans and analyzing current processes and performance. In addition, he is in charge of recruitment and advancement of all staff. His experience with the Company’s Environmental Division includes conducting wetland and critical line delineations, environmental and biological assessments, and state and federal permitting. In addition, he conducts threatened and endangered species surveys, makes general land management recommendations, conducts game and non-game wildlife surveys, advises landowners with threatened and endangered species management and habitat enhancement and regulation. He holds a federal permit with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to conduct activities related to the recovery of the red-cockaded woodpecker, including banding, monitoring and translocation. His experience with the Company’s Forestry Division includes managing logging operations for timber stand improvement, as well as wildlife habitat improvement and restoration. His oversight includes stand prescriptions, timber marking, landowner coordination, procurement negotiations and logging crew management. He conducts economic analyses for a number of land management activities, such as timber, sand mining and wetland mitigation bank establishment. Mr. Wenzel advises landowners with making site preparation recommendations, and provides oversight for reforestation projects, such as long leaf pine restoration and conversion. Mr. Wenzel composes wildlife management and forest and timber management plans, advises landowners on forest management decisions and can assist clients in the obtainment of state and federal grants aimed at improving forest stand conditions for targeted wildlife species. In addition, he can conduct insect and disease surveys and make suggestions for prevention and suppression. He advises landowners on appropriate means of invasive & exotic species control, and can provide case by case prescriptions of such control. Ryan is an active member with the Forestry Association of South Carolina, where he serves on the Board of Directors, as well as the young professional’s steering committee, and presides as the President of the Lord Berkley Conservation Trust. When Ryan is not working he can be found spending time with his wife Abby and their two children McLane and Flora, or traveling, boating spending time outdoors.
